The Carolina Bagel Co & Deli, a local favorite in New Bern NC, offers a delicious breakfast where the freshness and passion is blatantly obvious. Better come early though because they fill up quickly and you may have a few minute wait. Entering the parking lot reveals a steady stream of patrons entering and leaving; a testament to the flavor, service and quality of the experience.
We have not had the lunch items yet, but we will soon. They offer a full menu, with breakfast ending at 10:30am. Today we barely made it.
This is one of the local spots while visiting New Bern that we would highly recommend. Carolina Bagel Co & Deli obviously takes pride in what they do. The bagels are made fresh and exude flavor. Visitors can even watch the baking preparation through a kitchen looking glass. Today they were offering about 2 dozen different bagel flavors and other sweet baked goods. We could tell the most popular bagel flavor was their egg bagel which sold out minutes after we arrived.

Cost
We feel the price of the food at Carolina Bagel Co & Deli is more than reasonable for its quality and portion sizes. We ended up having enough to bring home for a snack later. Our extremely large breakfast totaled only $23, including 3 drinks at $1.75 each. After gratuity, we ended up spending less than $30 for a meal that is likely to keep us going till dinner.
Service
Our server, Candace, met us within moments of grabbing a table to welcome us, clear the ta le from the previous customer ad get our drink order. She returned moments later with drinks and to put in our food order. She was very pleasant and friendly.
Shannon and I had, at most, 10 minutes before she returned with our food. In fact, neither of us had the time to finish our first cup of coffee before our food was delivered hot and fresh. Candace was very organized and we could tell she was enjoying her work with all of her customers.
Notes
The normal Carolina Scramble price is $6.95 which includes either toast or buttered bagel. Adding cream cheese is an additional $1.25 but the portion size is worth the added cost. Shannon ended up having to take most of the garlic/herb cream cheese home.

Overall
The Carolina Bagel Co & Deli is a pleasant, enjoyable experience with a distinctly “local” feel. We will definitely be eating here again and looking forward to our next visit. Perhaps our next trip will be during lunch so we can sample some of their delicious sounding sandwiches.
If you are in town, we think you will enjoy the breakfast at The Carolina Bagel Co & Deli. Definitely worth a visit.
We did inquire and, at the moment, the Trent Road location is their only store. We hope they will begin opening additional stores in other areas. It’s just that good.
