After docking in Charleston, SC for about a week at the Cooper River Marina, and eager to start our second offshore sailing adventure. We hired a delivery captain that would help us get to New Bern, NC safely. Although I had a lot of offshore sea time in the Navy, I was never the one driving the boat. Our adventures aboard Sailing Vessel Banjo
Whether it be inshore fresh-water, coastal cruising or deep ocean blue water cruising, we travel them all. We post the articles from each of our sailing adventures here on SailingBanjo.com. Some of them will be funny, some will be scary, but all will be real.
Boldly Go
As an ocean-going sailing vessel, SV Banjo is designed, built and equipped to carry its crew on practically any ocean adventure. She has seen her share of heavy seas, and calm anchorages during her 40+ year life. We plan to add many more experiences aboard and increase her sailing life. Banjo was not built to sit in a marina. She was built to find her way among the waves and salt, traveling the oceans of the world.
Check Back Often
We will chronicle each of our experiences and update this page with fresh stories, and lessons learned. Please check our site often for new content, pictures and video.

Mid-day, without warning, we…

Shannon and I had been away from the dogs, Sagira, Obi & Venus, for almost two weeks. We were…

Luckily, things appear to be starting to stabilize (yes, our world flipped upside down in the greatest of ways) and we have been fortunate to…
