2018 Sudan Shriner Parade in New Bern, NC
We discovered that today, 27 Jan 2018, was the 2018 Sudan Shriner Parade in New Bern, NC. The parade was scheduled for noon on Middle Street in downtown New Bern. It was a great partly-cloudy day, slightly cool, but not uncomfortable. Shannon and I walked across the bridge and got to take some great video footage of the entire parade. It lasted a little over an hour and included all sorts of mini-cars, trucks, characters and vehicles. Shriners from all over North Carolina attended and put on an outstanding parade.
Although we enjoyed the entire parade, our favorites of the day were the “trike” mini-bikes with their street spins and squealing tires. Think motorized big-wheel doing burnouts and 360-degree spins. Very cool!
Some of our other favorites were the sportster cars, the mini-rig trucks, and the Daredevils driving over a moving ramp.
We decided that since we are behind in our story videos that we would start releasing videos of our experiences in smaller format. We will include pieces of those experiences in our story-line episodes once we get caught up. Until then, we wanted to share the experience with all of you, especially when attending events.
We hope you enjoy the video. It is about 35 minutes and includes almost all of the parade festivities.
Here are some snapshots of the parade. Be sure to check out our YouTube video above for a much better view of all the fun. We had a wonderful time and it was great to see such a large turnout from the city of New Bern.
