Remove our Boat Engine
It’s been a busy aboard Banjo. As you may recall, we got towed out of our anchorage almost a month ago and have been eager to discover the cause of our engine failure. I met with Gary last week and attended to his assigned homework of preparing the engine to be removed. Earlier this week, Gary and the crew from Deaton Yacht Service in Oriental, NC, took the reins to remove our boat engine. Today was a busy day. This morning, we received a knock on the hull and found Gary, one of the Deaton’s Yacht Service employees, requesting to come aboard. We welcomed him and took a couple minutes to listen to his plan for removing our Perkins boat engine. We decided to remove the engine due to finding sea water on top of the pistons and water in our engine oil. We were fortunate to have had John Deaton from Deatons Yacht Service, come aboard Banjo and perform an inspection of our Perkins marine engine. Shannon and I have been nervous since discovering a problem with Banjo’s engine. Since, we have been actively seeking answers to our Perkins 4.236 Marine Engine Mystery. Today, we realized the extent of the problem and have potentially encountered a major delay in our cruising plans. As some may remember, right before Hurricane Florence, Banjo experienced some engine problems. We later realized she has water in her oil, which has various possible causes. After Hurricane Florence, and subsequently Hurricane Michael which came right on Flo’s heels, we investigated some of the possible causes of our mystery.
